As Marvel VS Capcom 3’s February 15 launch date draws closer, Capcom is rattling off the last bunch of character reveals. This time around, both the Marvel and Capcom sides are getting some not-so-good guys in the form of Akuma and Taskmaster. The two have been rumored to appear in the game thanks to some leaked panels of the supposed tie-in Marvel comic of the game and some retailer leaks. Trailers after the jump.
First off, we have Street Fighter’s former April Fools’ joke-turned-badass Akuma. He moves and seemingly plays like his previous VS games incarnations, with what looks to be some of the normals from Street Fighter IV thrown in. Interestingly, his hyper combos have gone through a bit of a switch-up. His Messatsu Gou Hadou (super fireball) is now a spray of smaller fireballs as opposed to being a beam super in previous games. On the other side of things, his Tenma Gou Zanku (air fireball super) is now a downward diagonal beam super. Interesting, if you ask me. Also, his win pose has him doing the Kongou Kokuretsu Zan, a super attack usually associated with Shin Akuma but is usable in Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Here’s to hoping that you can actually perform it here, too.
Next up is Taskmaster, who is probably one of Marvel’s lesser known villains, but that doesn’t make him any less of a threat. See, he’s got this ability to mimic moves and fighting styles from those he encounters. As evidenced in his reveal trailer, Taskmaster borrows moves from more notable personalities such as Captain America and Spider-Man. I’m not sure if the bow attacks are a Hawkeye thing, though (comic experts, help me!)
