There’s nothing better than falling in love with a new casual or online casino game and putting hundreds of hours into trying to get better and better at it, or just immersing yourself in another world. Unfortunately, as you grow older, you don’t always have the luxury of dedicating all of your free time to gaming anymore. That’s why we wanted to focus on a few free, casual browser-based games that are still a ton of fun, but don’t require you to sink in all of your available time in them to be enjoyable.
Online Casino Games
As an honorable mention, we briefly want to highlight all the fantastic games online casinos have to offer. Whether it’s Roulette, Blackjack, Poker or a good ol’ spin of a Slots game, they’ve got it all. As there’s an abundance of online casinos available to play, it’s important to be aware of what to look out for.
For example, you should only play at an online casino with a valid license from a reputable regulator. Once that’s out of the way, it’s a good idea to check out the provider’s current promotions or bonuses, as they often give out sweet deals to newly registered players. Other than that, it’s a matter of personal preference when it comes to the available games to play and how the website looks on multiple devices.
DOOM
Yes, you read that right. The classic first-person shooter DOOM that left everyone’s jaw on the floor when it first came out in 1993, can now be played in the comfort of your own web browser. Play as the Doom Slayer, a demon-slaying machine sent on a mission to save a space station on Mars from total annihilation.
Along the way, you’ll upgrade the Doom Slayer’s arsenal with more weapons, like the Shotgun, Plasma Gun, Rocket Launcher and, of course, the BFG9000. Just don’t ask anyone what ‘BFG’ stands for.
Linerider
While DOOM focuses more on the gory slaying of countless hordes of hellspawn, Linerider is perfect for creative gamers that just want to unwind for a few minutes. In fact, there is no real goal to the game at all, other than having fun and letting your creativity go wild.
Linerider lets you draw a track from scratch for a cute little guy on a sled to ride on. You can make the track as crazy and action-packed as you want. The only limitations are that your little line rider doesn’t fall off the track and has enough speed to keep going forward. And if you don’t add at least one looping to your track, you’re not doing it right.
Spelunky
Originally released as a free-to-play PC game back in 2008 and made by just a single developer, Spelunky was an instant success. The game was re-released for the Xbox 360 in 2012 and was also remade for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and even Playstation 4. Now Spelunky has come full circle as it’s yet again possible to play for free in your browser.
Spelunky is a 2D action-adventure game in which you take on the role of a nameless cave explorer with a cracking whip. In the caves, that are randomly generated each time you play, you’ll encounter numerous monsters that stand between you and treasures that will make you rich beyond your wildest dreams. Be warned, though, as death means starting all over again.
