The packaging for the UGREEN GaN X 65 w PD Fast Charger is fairly simple yet sturdy. It comes with a premium-looking box that highlights the product at the front side and its specification at the back.
Removing the box’s content reveals the actual charger and other contents that came with it. Unfortunately, it does not come with a charging cable. It only comes with a product manual and that’s pretty much it.
Closer Look – UGREEN GaN X 65w Power Delivery Fast Charger (CD224)
In this section, we’re going to take a closer look at the GaN X 65w PD fast charger by UGREEN.
The UGREEN GaN X 65w charger is available in the EU and US wall socket male plug. The one we have here uses the US male plug. It’s foldable which makes traveling with it easier and friendly.
The charger overall feels decent and sturdy. It’s quite heavy too despite its compact size. According to papers, it weighs about 172 grams.
A quick weight test appears to be so. Don’t let the weight irk you off. This is what to be expected from a charger that offers 4 ports that can be used simultaneously. If it’s too light, then that’s what you should be concerned about.
When it comes to its dimensions, the charger stands at 65 by 65 by 33mm and for our US readers, that’s 2.5 by 2.5 by 1.3 inches.
Looking at the other end of the port side reveals a more detailed specification of each port. Both USB Type-C1 and C2 are capable of producing 65W of power at a rate of 20V3.25A which indicates the standard for Power Delivery charging. However, the maximum output for the charger is 65w which indicates that if you charge 2 supporting devices on both Type-C 65w ports, they’ll be limited to a total output of 65w only which means both will be throttled down to a value that sums to 65w.

Performance – UGREEN GaN X 65w Power Delivery Fast Charger (CD224)
In this section, we test the capability of the charger as well as each of its ports.
Huawei SuperCharger 5V5A (25w)
Using a Huawei P30 device, we tested the capabilities of the USB Type-A port of the GaN X charger. Huawei’s SuperCharger technology on a 5V rail is one of the best methods to test the charging capability of any charger at 5V rail since it’s considered as the top possible charger rate for 5V peaking up to 25W.
Power Delivery
To test power delivery, we opted to used Nintendo Switch as our testing device. At 0% battery, it should give us the peak charging rate for each charging device. The result is as follow:
Of course, the Huawei P30 charger block isn’t capable of power delivery. It still charged our Nintendo Switch but at a rate of 5V1.45A which is the minimum output rating requirement to charge a Nintendo Switch. On the other hand, the UGREEN GaN X 65w gave more charging juice to charge our Nintendo Switch faster than the CHOETECH 60W PD charger.
Final Thoughts…
The UGREEN GaN X 65w Power Delivery Fast Charger is a charger that sets the new standard in charging devices. Most especially considering that the path most manufacturers are headed to is the removal of chargers on smartphones. What this means is that, in the future, most smartphones will not include chargers anymore and you will have to purchase a separate one.
We like that the UGREEN GaN X is Gallium Nitride instead of Silicon. This greatly impacts the industry of electronics and the massive demand for silicon as its component. The use of Gallium Nitride truly sets a new standard in the electronics industry and this allows manufacturers such as UGREEN to craft devices in a more compact design such as the GaN X. Most 4 port chargers on the market tends to be bulky in size and fortunately, the GaN X isn’t. We also liked how 3 Type-C USB ports are used with an inclusion of a single Type-A to support various devices which is mostly the majority on the market as of this writing.
The power protection as an added feature is a welcome feat to have and its compact foldable size is a great feature for travelers. However, its weight must be considered for those that travel with weight as a consideration.
All in all, the UGREEN GaN X is a great compact and portable charger to have. It’s also a great option to consider for charging multiple devices at once. We highly recommend checking it out.

It’s ideally used for larger devices such as Laptop or large capacity power banks.
