Kiri’s a guy with a hair fetish. And he’s got it real bad. He loves to cut hair, and is evidenced by him carrying around a pair of scissors wherever he goes.
And that’s the relatively sane part. When he meets a mysterious girl with really really really long hair, he goes all creepy on her.
Yes, in a way, this is about fetishism and his hair fetish.
But there’s a plot, actually. This girl, Iwai, actually has ridiculously long hair because she is cursed. Apparently, her hair cannot be cut. And Kiri does confirm this using random scissors in the house. It’s completely senseless why he doesn’t try using the pair of scissors he has on his hands.
But lo and behold, they’re not the only characters of this show, as two girls show up at Iwai’s place. They basically shoo Kiri away, claiming it’s for his own good. According to Iwai those two are part of an organization of descendants of psychotic killers, who inherited what she terms as “Killing Goods,” or basically the murder tool used by their ancestors.
But in a weird twist of fate, largely due to plot device, Kiri gets told by his grandfather that he himself descended from one such psychotic killer, whose weapon of choice is, you guessed it, the pair of scissors he has.
So he gets a wonderful idea: Why not try using this cursed scissors of his to cut the cursed hair of Iwai. And so he does, and succeeds.
And thus begins the weird tale of a boy with hair fetish, a girl who hates her cursed hair, and a series of murder tools originating from psychotic killers of past. Sounds pretty unique if you ask me.
And that, I guess, is why this is rather good. It’s a rather fresh concept, and I dare say the quirkiness of the main character is interesting. I mean he is damn weird, and that makes for an interesting watch. The subtle eroticism is within acceptable bounds, as it’s just largely fetishism and nothing inappropriate really happens.
The mystery part, and possibly action part are not quite there yet, but the episode manages to showcase the necessary background with regard to psychotic killers, Killing Goods, and the shady organization. Overall, this comes around as a surprise hit for me.
