The civilians have evacuated and the retreat signal has been raised, but there’s trouble brewing everywhere. First, the supply headquarters have largely been abandoned by the senior officers, leaving the cadets to fend off by themselves. And obviously, they’re not gonna do a good job defending that supply point.

This means those soldiers out there have essentially ran out of support, and thus are all now running low on gas. No gas means no mobility, which is like a death wish against titans. Hence, despair.

Mikasa arrives in time to see the horrible situation they are in, but proceeds nonetheless with her business: Where is Eren?

And Armin finally speaks of the sad fate of the cadet squad he was in.
Oddly enough, Mikasa remained composed and cool. She even tells Armin not to be emotional. Instead, she rallies the trip, declaring her plan to fight the titans besieging the supply headquarter in a speech that is both inspiring and demeaning.

Mikasa dashes forward alone, but soon Jean shouts of his own two cents and tells the others to follow as he does himself.

And what the heck, today is a good day to die, and everyone sorties.

Of course, with Mikasa spearheading the attack everything seems to be doing fine…

that is, until Armin notices that Mikasa is using up too much gas, likely because she’s drowning the pain of losing Eren with a kill-all-titans attitude. And yeah, she runs out of gas.

This leaves Jean to rally the troops, which he fails to manager, seeing people rush forth to save a gased out comrade only to die in the process altogether.

As for Mikasa, the pain finally hit her…

and she’s ready to die…

But no, instinct has it she has to survive, after all, Eren told her to fight and live waaaaaaaaay back then. But well, a second titan appears…

BUT OMG THE TITAN ATTACKED THE OTHER ONE!

Heck, not just once, but twice this rogue titan killed off one of his own, right in front of Mikasa, and Connie and Armin who came to help her.

So what is the deal with this rogue titan? We’ll know next episode, but as for that moment, Mikasa simply felt elated and relieved to see a symbol of man’s rage fighting back against the titans…
Next episode, it’s revealed that…
