Introduction
Kingston has recently celebrated their 35th anniversarsary and they are releasing a special commemorative edition product to mark the occassion. Just like their annual Lunar New Year special releases, Kingston has a habit of marking special occassions with special products. These are not necessarily limited edition but will mostly run during that year alone.
To celebrate their 35th anniversary, Kingston made the FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Editition.
Let’s make it very clear at this point: these are commemorative items and Kingston seems to be targeting a larger audience with these release as the capacities and speeds seem to be intended for a wider audience. This does leave out the extreme enthusiasts but regardless, the new Kingston FURY Beast RGB DDR4 Special Edition memory kit is for everyone and let’s see how it performs in this review. Read on!

Closer Look
Kingston packages the FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition in their signature packaging style. The memory kits are sealed in clear blister pack and is inserted in a tamper-proof full-colored cardboard. There’s no details in the back except for a short message. The front speed and capacity indicator is the important bit here besides the DDR4 indicator.
This is a comparison of the Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition versus the new Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 memory. For the most part, the DDR4 version of regular FURY Beast resembles the DDR5 kit with the RGB model featuring a light bar streaking thru the top.
The Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition features a new design heatspreader with a curved RGB lightbar. The shape is assymetrical and features one side raised curving upwards. Unlike the older HyperX 10th Anniversary Memory that Kingston made which features a giant X on the heatspreader, the FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition seems more like a special white edition release than an event release. Nothing negative but it does really makes one ask, why make it an anniversary or special edition.
The sticks are moderate height at the highest point. Make sure to confirm that your tower color clears 46mm for memory clearance for compatibility.
FURY CTRL Software – RGB Control
Unlike previous kits from the HyperX era, Kingston’s FURY memories can now uses dedicated RGB control software. Kingston’s own FURY CTRL app allow fine control over the RGB lightning of the FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition and has plenty of animation presets as well as custom lighting options.

There’s a total of 16 built-in presets with the independent option allowing more customization options for the lighting that allows changing both colors and which specific are uses which color. Its a very precise option but if you need that kind precision, Kingston allow uses to do so via the FURY CTRL software.
Note: they’re not reacting to the sound.Â

At this point in time, I actually don’t have a DDR4 test bench anymore. Thankfully the old rig is still on my test bench so I had to fire up a new Windows 10 installation as we’ve moved to Windows 11 already. That said, we’ve retained all the comparable DDR4 test results from this system and is accurate to the best of our abilities and still comparable for this application.

Conclusion
In 2023, its easy to dismiss that DDR4 is a dying technology and Kingston shouln’t have spent their 35th anniversary release on equally mainstream speed class. I must disagree with this because as of this moment, DDR4-3200 to DDR4-3600 would the most popular RAM speed you will see installed on most users and given the most users coming off the slump we had in 2020 are just uppgrade to a new CPU, whether its a Ryzen 5000 or a newer platform from Intel, which thankfully is likely seeing another year in action. That said, Kingston really did a good job thinking of the mainstream market when they made this memory.
I actually won’t fault Kingston for not having black heatspreader options. What I will criticize them with this kit is the lack of enthusiast speed options. A DDR4-4000 option would’ve easily ooffset the lack of DDR5 options, but then again this would limit users to Intel platforms. Ultimately, its a sound choice and it works for both AMD and Intel so mass adoption is excellent.
Curiously, the Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition is priced lower than Kingston’s regular FURY Beast DDR4. This does show us this is special launch of a white variant of their FURY Beast. So disregarding that, it is a very well-made product as expected from Kingston. Performance is decent and while it doesn’t stand out is consistent with out other DDR4-3600 kits.
At the end of the day, this is one of those “just another white” memory kit. Is it a good buy? If you just want a decent performing kit, then yes it is. But if you’re after monster performance and OC, you’ll be left wanting more by this kit.
The Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition is a decent kit and RGB is tastefully executed with a more elegant heatspreader than its vanilla counterpart.
Kingston backs the FURY Beast DDR4 RGB Special Edition with a limited lifetime warranty. I give it my B2G Recommeneded Seal!
