Unlike the other RTX 3050 we have for testing, MSI is a dual-fan card which saves a lot of space while also keeping the card compatible with many cases out there particularly for smaller builds. This does put it a little bit behind the triple-fan cooled RTX 3050 that we have but in most cases, performance in 1080p in general is very close with esports games really closing it in 1080p. MSI does operate this card at only 130W, the same TDP as GIGABYTE which kept it at just under 2000Mhz overall in terms of operation. As a flagship MSI card, I would’ve wanted to see potentially higher TDPs or clock boosts. MSI could’ve opted with the factory TDP to keep it under control and that indeed it does with maximum gaming temperatures hovering around 60*C and at very quiet fan noise levels. Even in heavy stress tests, the card doesn’t go past 70*C which is great to see given that its a dual-fan cooler type.

MSI’s GAMING X cooler has been around for a while and its gotten some slight modification over the years after the TwinFrozr days and MSI has been trying to keep it at a certain dimensions while still keeping it true to the MSI Gaming form. The MSI GAMING X on the RTX 3050 features newer fan designs with blades receiving a slight change in design for improved airflow performance. This new design keeps the card a true MSI card by design but management to cut back on the cooler weight by maximizing the amount of metal on the cooler without going extra long.
The MSI RTX 3050 GAMING X OC is a decent dual-fan card and carries with it great performance for its size. Keeping thermals in check, it manages to sustain the RTX 3050 for an overall, great gaming performance especially for 1080p.
MSI backs the RTX 3050 GAMING X OCÂ with a 3-year warranty.
