A new processor again calls for a new motherboard and AMD needs a new socket for their new 3rd-gen Ryzen Threadripper but as always, there’s always new boards from manufacturers for every release. Inheriting much of the tech from the X570 release, the new TRX40 boards feature a lot more PCIe Gen4 lanes, a total of 88, with 56 coming from the CPU and 32 from the chipset. This leaves a lot of possibilities for motherboard makers on how they would wire their boards.
In this video we have the really hefty GIGABYTE TRX40 AORUS EXTREME. The company’s top-of-the-line motherboard for the new 3rd-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors and it features a lot of what makes their X570 boards really cool, literally, and dials it to 11. A large fin array and NanoCarbon coated heatsink as well as a large shroud really makes this board stand out.
One of the key aspects for the board, as with the X570, is the use of 16-phase direct power phases to the CPU. GIGABYTE is also touting a large array of connectivity including dual 10G LAN coming off a server chip and lot more.
No pricing is announced as of yet for the TRX40 AORUS EXTREME.
