An upcoming build of Windows 10 may receive a new feature called “Game Mode” wherein the system will run in a highly-optimized state dedicated for maximizing resources for the best experience in game. The way it is expected to work is that apps and services will be reduced to the bare minimum when Game Mode is activated allowing games to fully utilize the available system resources and thus in-turn result in a more fluid gaming experience.
The feature was spotted in a leaked build of 14997 which is expected to soon hit insider updates in an upcoming update. The feature is said to be similar to Xbox One and how it handles games and this has been severely missing part of Windows for a while now. It is still unclear whether the game mode will work on all game delivery platforms but it is indeed good news that Microsoft has taken their attention to PC gaming once again.
.@h0x0d 14997 has a new dll "gamemode.dll", so it looks like Game Mode is a thing
