After the Star Wars Battlefront 2 debacle, things look very promising in the Star Wars gaming scene. Respawn Entertainment showed off the first gameplay footage of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order during the EA Play livestream last weekend.
The demo showed off some lightsaber gameplay, exploration, platforming, hints at a skill tree, and of course, the Force powers. It all looks reminiscent of Star Wars The Force Unleashed in look, and Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast in spirit. Eschewing the insane action of both Force Unleashed and Battlefront 2’s Campaign mode, Jedi Fallen Order seems to take inspiration from the recent God of War game to provide us with an intense, but thoughtful and authentic Star Wars experience.
Set in a post-Revenge of the Sith galaxy, players will take control of Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who survived the purged and is living in hiding. Just like any Jedi, the call of the Force will be too strong to resist, and true to post-Disney acquisition Star Wars media, much of the plot will be driven by both Cal’s struggle trying to stay low, and the Empire’s determination to eliminate any Jedi survivors in the form of an Inquisitor. The gameplay trailer confirms the appearance of Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) from Rogue One, The Clone Wars, and Rebels.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order will release on the Xbox One, PS4, and the PC on November 15, 2019.
