Lara Croft is back in this new Tomb Raider game developed by Crystal Dynamics, and published by Square-Enix. Thank goodness she remotely resembles a certain pouting, charitable old actress this time around.
Game Informer‘s January 2011 issue will be revealing a new Tomb Raider game. It seems the new game will be be titled ‘Tomb Raider’ and tells the beginnings of series protagonist Lara Croft.
It would seem that the story will start with Lara surviving a shipwreck, as Square-Enix’s PR goes:
“After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling [sic] on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach,†Square’s PR reads. “On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive.â€
It would also look like this will be one hell of a survival game:
“Here begins the first adventure for a young and inexperienced Lara Croft in a story which charts the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.â€
Other rumors circling around include the game being rated M (Mature) by the ESRB, Lara being 21, some drastic changes in game mechanics, and it being a very horrifying survival game experience. Well, we’ll have to wait until 11 December for Game Informer’s exclusive feature about the game. For now all we can give you a glimpse of is the game’s logo:
You can check Tomb Raider’s official site for more updates. We will also keep you updated about future developments regarding this game, so stay tuned.
