WD has just announced their new addition to their SSD lineup with the WD Black PCIe SSD: the first PCIe SSD with the WD branding for consumers. This product is aimed at the more consumer-friendly market favoring M.2 form factor and will be available in 256GB and 512GB capacities. SRP for the WD Black PCIe SSD will be at $109 and $199 respectively putting it in mainstream range of M.2 PCIe SSD product prices.
The WD Black SSD uses PCI-E gen3 x4 NVMe, and is rated for 2050MB/s for both capacities, with the 256GB drive offering 700MB/s and 800MB/s for the 512GB model.
WD backs the WD Black PCIe SSD with a 5-year warranty and a 1.75M hour MTTF.
The WD Black PCIe SSD will be available in the first half of 2017.
