NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 hash rate limiter has been the subject of discussion since its announcement and with the RTX 3060 now out, NVIDIA seems to be keeping to its promise that the RTX 3060 is meant for gamers only and their mining hash rate lock seems to be effective, with no one yet effectively breaking it… except if your NVIDIA. German publications have reporting that development drivers from NVIDIA themselves have provided a key to workaround this limit with the GeForce 470.05 driver providing increased mining performance on the RTX 3060.
HardwareLuxx and ComputerBase have both tested the drivers with their RTX 3060 and they have stated that the drivers “restores” the true expected mining performance on the RTX 3060. The take here is that with NVIDIA utilizing a purportedly software-based lockout solution, it was only a matter of time before it breaks, as demonstrated by the 470.05 drivers who did not implement the lockout code.
