Announced last week was Lenovo’s Legion 2022 refresh lineup featuring spec bumps for the entire product line as well as subtle redesigns. The 2022 Legion and Ideapad Gaming line-up will see 12th-gen Intel Core CPUs up to a Core i9 12900HX and more. The PH launch may have been a bit delayed but it came with one of the strongest statement from a laptop brand has to-date in the current local market.
If you’ve been following PC tech in PH, particularly Manila, MSI had their physical launch event recently, possibly the first PC-related face-to-face launch in years. Lenovo Legion stepped-up to the plate with their own face-to-face live event to coincide with their global announcement of their 2022 gaming lineup.
Announced in the event are the new Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i which receives an upgraded look as well as some technical improvements. Lenovo still doesn’t want to call this the Legion 3 but maybe that’s for a future line-up.
The Legion 2022 refresh will see modern specs on the Legion 5i, Legion 5i Pro, Legion 7i and the Legion Slim 7i.
A uniform upgrade across the board will be PCIe Gen4 SSDs will be standard for all models going forward as well as 16:10 monitors. Highlights are particularly abundant on the flagship Legion 7 as we now see the debut of a mini-LED option for the Slim 7i/7. No more iCUE as well as Lenovo has moved on from its relationship with Corsair and is now debuting their own in-house Lenovo Legion Spectrum lighting. Legion also improves their cooling solution with the new ColdFront 4.0 supported by a phase-change thermal interface material.
The Legion 5i debuts a new metal chassis, increasing its premium feel while the Legion 5i Pro gets an ultra fast screen option of up to 240Hz. Below is an at-a-glance specsheet:

More Value: Legion Ultimate Support, Accidental Damage Protection and MS Office 2021 Lifetime License
Legion is the industry leader when it comes to support as they offer on-site support, phone support as well as international carry-in coverage for Lenovo Premium Care-covered products, which is pretty much their entire gaming and high-end lifestyle line. This also means that Lenovo Legion laptops have full 3-year warranties.
This has now become sweeter as Lenovo is stacking Legion Ultimate Support and Accidental Damage Protection on their new Legion products. Legion Ultimate Support bolsters their currently existing customer support system with a gamer-oriented 24/7 phone, chat and email contact. Support personnel handling Legion Ultimate Support will be familiar with gaming titles and trends. Lenovo will also provide a single source for software support.
The biggest surprise announcement comes in the form of their Accidental Damage Protection which goes on top of Premium Care and Legion Ultimate Support which avails Legion customers coverage from accidental damages from drops, bumps and similar scenarios.
We’ll be reaching out to Lenovo to discuss a more detailed framework for their Accidental Damage Protection but at its most basic definition: if you drop your Legion, Lenovo will provide coverage for this for this.
Do understand that there will be fineprints tied to this as in cases wherein personal negligence, loss, cosmetic damage on a fully functioning system, etc. will not be covered.
Lenovo will also be including a full, perpetual license of MS Office Home & Student 2021 with all Legion 2022 laptops as well a 3-month subscription for Microsoft PC Game Pass.
Lenovo also announced a new pair of gaming mice during their launch event: the Legion M300s white and M600s gaming mice.
