The PSP Go, Sony’s latest “handheld” device after the PSP and before the NGP had been receiving negative reviews. Post unit release sales had been floundering with reasons varying from the unit’s exorbitant price to players not liking the design. However, recent buzz on the PSP Go has surfaced which say that Sony finally pulled the plug on the device. Reports from both Kotaku and Joystiq finally confirmed that Sony closed the coffin shut for the unit.
According to AV Watch (japanese text), the source of the said news, Sony has now ceased shipping of the device so that they can concentrate on the NGP, Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s 3DS. I for one would say that it’s about time since the PSP Go is such a big waste of time, resources and well gamer’s money.
People who know me know that ever since day one of the unit’s release, nay, since it was announced I was one of the many people who hated the Go with a passion. I wouldn’t want to smother this time of mourning (yeah riiiiight) for the device, but my hatred for it was well founded (well for me anyway). I have to admit though that when I won a unit during one contest that my hatred for the Go seemed to have subsided and I never regretted selling my unit right after the day I got it.
So so long PSP Go. You will not be missed, now Sony please concentrate on the NGP please? kthxbai.
