Joystiq has announced that Screen Gems, the company who brought us Resident Evil to the big screen has acquired movie rights to another Capcom title. Namely, Devil Macy Cry. Yes that’s right DMC fans, the film company who gamer’s the world over hate (well those who were unable to accept how RE turned out) has yet again acquired another distinguished game title in hopes of bringing it to the big screen.
Personally, I liked how Screen Gems made the RE series. Regardless of how many details were left out (and the changes in the overall story was really acceptable compared to how the Uncharted movie is starting to turn out or even Avatar the Last Airbender– ugh yeah I still can’t get over that movie) so I’m still hoping that DMC will be as much of an action film as it should be. Dante deserves the “action hero” status as his games make him to be.
No other details are given as of the moment but Joystiq speculates that given Paul Anderson’s creative freedom on the RE series, he may go with his own version of our white-haird demon killer. Still Paul Anderson’s take on the whole DMC universe is still unknown, he may take the original Dante or even Ninja Theory’s Dante Reboot, but who knows?
The real question however is that who do you think is the suitable actor to portray Dante?
