I stumbled on this little game while I was browsing Kotaku yesterday. Editing the dead, is an graphic adventure game on youtube where you are put in a choose-your-own-adventure like experience based on George A. Romero’s zombie film the Night of the Living Dead.
The game shuffles from different perspectives and covers the interaction between Ben and Barbara, the first two survivors you’d get to meet in the movie. I’ve been playing Editing the Dead since yesterday and I wasn’t able to meet the other survivors the two group together with in the house.
To those who are not familiar with the term “choose-your-own-adventure”, here’s the wikipedia entry about it:
Choose Your Own Adventure is a series of children’s gamebooks based on concept created by Edward Packard and first published by Bantam Books from 1979-1998 . Each story is written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character’s actions in response to the plot and its outcome. Choose Your Own Adventure was one of the most popular children’s series during the 1980s and 1990s, selling over 250 million copies between 1979 and 1998, and translated into at least 38 languages. Certain books from the original series are currently being re-published by Chooseco.
So Editing the dead follows this concept but this time the creator used the youtube video links as the medium. So if you want to experience the Night of the Living Dead adventure just visit their site and be ready to choose your own adventure.
