Many of us have been accustomed to Call of Duty being the lesser resource-intensive FPS game versus Battlefield but that may soon change as NVIDIA is revealing that the next Infinity Ward title off the multi-award winning Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts, will be requiring the following system specifications:
Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
RAM: 6 GB RAM
HDD: 50 GB HD space
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
DirectX: 11
Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet connection required for activation.
Recommended System Requirements
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780
Let us review those figures. First up, you need a 64-bit OS. If you’re still running anything 32-bit then its sayonara COD for you. Processor isn’t much of an issue as most modern systems from the last 3 years should be able to run it, preferably triple- and quad-core models as the minimum system requirements states. Now most of us seems to regard 4GB as the current standard and most gamers out there typically run at least 8GB or so. COD:Ghosts requires 6GB of RAM and that’s a lot.
Going over to storage, we have 50GB of install space to worry about. This should really piss off SSD users. For the graphics department, get this, the game has a minimum requirements of a GTX 550 Ti or a HD5870. CoD used to run off Intel HD2100 at 720p smoothly but now CoD: Ghosts is setting a precedent as the game requires at least those cards which are by modern standards already upper-midrange cards. And since this post is off NVIDIA’s site, we’ll shake off the latter part but we still can’t get over the fact that the game recommends a GTX 780 for an optimum gaming experience.
Given that the game is said to be a 4k-resolution title, the system requirements are understandable but it just makes me wonder just what kind of system would run the game at maxed out settings.
We’ll find out once the games hits shelves this November. Hopefully no truck heists like last year.
