AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core CPU
A Malaysia event has revealed pricing for Asia for the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X. The new Ryzen 9 processor t is a 16-core processor with 32 threads with a base clock of 3.5Ghz and a turbo boost frequency of 4.7Ghz. The processor has a TDP rating of 105W and will be drop-in compatible with all AM4 motherboards supporting 105W TDP CPUs. This includes the majority of X370, B350, B450, X470 and X570 motherboards as long as their VRMs can handle the CPU.
The pricing above is 3149 Malaysian Ringgit (around Php38k), which is roughly close to the USD pricing. PH mandates taxes on top of SRP so this will be lower than PH pricing.
During the writing of this article, we’ve received word from our Philippine partners that the pricing for the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X will be at Php40,000. We are currently confirming this with AMD Philippines for finality.
The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X has an SRP of $749, putting it around Php38k after conversion and with 12% tax included, that would put it around Php42000+ in local pricing.
As mentioned, older AM4 boards will work with the new Ryzen 9 but expect compatibility requirements for VRM delivery for maximum benefits.
AMD has also released the Threadripper 3rd-gen models and we’ll cover that in another article/
