AMD is dropping prices on the Ryzen 7 7700X shortly following the announcement of the Ryzen 7 7700X3D’s availability. The Ryzen 7 7700X is a launch model for AMD’s Zen4 lineup for Socket AM5 and features 8-cores/16-threads and is based off the new Zen 4 architecture.
The newer Ryzen 7 7700X3D is AMD’s highest-performing gaming CPU according to their CES 2023 slides and presentation so that could eat thru the sales of the Ryzen 7 7700X despite an April 2023 availability. The Ryzen 7 7700X is also already threatened by the Ryzen 7 7700 (non-X) CPU which could see the non-X chip also receive a price reduction as is the cheaper model of the two.
This price cut will see the Ryzen 7 7700X more enticing to possible Intel i5 13th gen buyers as AMD is still contending with the fact some upgraders have yet to ditch their DDR4 RAM sticks for DDR5.
