Today, SM Storyland opens up its latest attraction at SM City North EDSA with the unveiling of its new Gaming Hub. Families can relax and enjoy a wide array of interactive games and relax in this new attraction located at the lower ground floor of SM City North EDSA main mall. Perfect for enjoying the holidays with the family this Christmas season.
This new SM Storyland sets itself apart from other branches aimed for kids at it steps up its offering to include facilities for all ages: Playstation 4 consoles, Tom’s World arcade and games cabinets, Videoke booths, inflatables and the new and more interactive experiences include an Oculus Rift VR 4×4 simulator and a Playoke dance room.
The Playoke dance room gives up to 6 players the chance to party in this large area with seats for friends to alternate between songs and show off their moves. The Playoke is based off an iOS game and is fully motion controlled allowing full range of movements to enjoy the game.
The other highly interactive game in SM Gaming Hub is the 4×4 simulator armed with an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. This driving simulator isn’t as advanced as those we’ve seen from the recently demo’d at NVIDIA VR SEA but is a great way to introduce a general audience to the burgeoning VR entertainment technology. The 4×4 simulator operates with a steering wheel controller but uses a different control for throttle and reverse by pushing and pulling on the wheel. We highly recommend trying this out for those who haven’t experienced VR before. Parental supervision is advised for kids trying this out – VR can get a bit nauseating. 🙂
Playstation 4 consoles are also available for use and feature various games for players to enjoy. During our visit, the units were offline and we’re not sure if they’ll be online-capable on normal operating days.
Arcade cabs, Videoke booths and a kiddie area are the other attractions in the Gaming Hub and offer the more traditional arcade experience for the family including shooting games, fighting games and crane games, etc.
Pricing and details weren’t for all attractions so do ask the info counter prior.
If you’re taking the family for a day out during the holiday seasons, be sure to check out the new SM Storyland Gaming Hub over at SM City North EDSA to chill down and watch the kids enjoy just being kids or let loose with the Playoke dance area or sing your heart out at the videoke booths.
