nVidia recently invited local gamers and PC enthusiasts to a closed-door assembly to highlight its line of graphics cards as well as educate the audience, both Team Green and Team Ruby, that there is more than just raw performance from nVidia’s offerings.
Formally commencing the event is nVidia Country Representative and legendary tank geek Glenn Paul Serrano which highlighted in his presentation, the key features of the GT line of entry-level GPUs. Mr. Serrano stressed the importance of a GPU rather than compromise performance, image quality and overall experience on integrated solutions. TankMaster Glenn provided some slides which gave a visual representation of the advantages a GPU, even an entry level one, can provide on daily computing task. Noteworthy were the rendering speeds for video content creation, web browsing and of course light gaming. In more tank news, Josh Cabrera representing Clan PVP which also represented the Philippines in the recent World Cyber Gamers was present during the event along with his clanmates who gave some first-hand insight on their game, World of Tanks.
…nVidia’s CUDA is on the cutting edge of accelerating applications
Celebrating their emphasis on gamers, nVidia has invited some local gamers to share their personal experience with nVidia graphics cards. Taking stage first is Mr. Rephael Catap, system content manager and world-renowned gamer, which walked us through his personal benefits of nVidia GPUs. Mr. Catap’s presentation highlighted CUDA, PHYSX and excellent DRIVER SUPPORT amongst others as his primary reason for choosing nVidia. Mr. Catap shared his professional insight on GPU-computing tasks and how nVidia’s CUDA is on the cutting edge of accelerating applications which support said technology helping give users a boost in their productivity. Taking over Mr. Catap is RBA’s Renier Delos Santos who shared his own experience regarding nVidia GPUs.
…the GTX line represents nVidia’s finest offerings. With Adaptive Vsync, 3D Surround, GPU Boost, PhysX, FXAA, TXAA
For his second presentation, Mr. Glenn Serrano now presents the GTX series and its advantages. With an incredible feature set and technologies that improve overall gaming experience, the GTX line represents nVidia’s finest offerings. With Adaptive Vsync, 3D Surround, GPU Boost, PhysX, FXAA, TXAA and power efficiency at the helm of its list of bragging rights.
For the most part, the event doesn’t dabble much on figures and is more or less intended to cement nVidia’s position to the people present, hopefully to influence their next purchases. nVidia does have its selling point and with pure raw performance behind it, the refined Fermi architecture is a great platform. As we step closer to the imminent refresh of the GTX line with the upcoming GTX700 series cards brandishing a newer Fermi architecture which aims to improve upon the current offerings.
…physics make interacting with the game a much more engrossing experience
nVidia has asked us to share our personal insights on our own experiences with nVidia cards and looking back at what we’ve reviewed so far (GTX680, GTX670, GTX660 Ti, GTX650) we can say that nVidia does indeed deliver stellar performance out of the box. Looking past pure FPS data, PhysX and Adaptive Vsync along with CUDA really sit well for me as I find these technologies very handy. It’s easy to argue that PhysX is game-dependent and we agree but when it is supported, the experience is just impressive. Particle dynamics and in-game world physics make interacting with the game a much more engrossing experience rather than the void, non-dynamic game worlds we were used to in the past years. As a fan of fighting games, frames are an important aspect of perfecting your technique and Adaptive Vsync makes it so that your frame counts are consistent and timing combos will be easier.
In closing, we hope nVidia continues to step up their game and continue to provide better products as well as technologies that not only improves image quality but also performance and efficiency. nVidia is consistent in delivering products that cater to gamer erstwhile managing to insert itself in the mobile market as well as the professional content creation and CAD/CAM and ultimately to supercomputing which ensures that the company’s technology will continue to flourish in our technology-entangled lives.
