B2G: Can you tell us about yourself?
JP: My name is Jesse Palacio. I go by the name JPModified. I am from Cebu City Philippines. I am 30 (plus) years old and a father of two amazing boys both 7 and 8. I have been quite active in the modding industry and have worked with the best hardware brands out there. I enjoy what I do and how I do it. I believe it takes a lot of passion, not tools to be a successful modder.
B2G: How did you come-up with your modder name?
JP: The letters J and P, are my initials, and “modified” is me taking ownership of the work I do. most people use “mods”, “modz”, and customs (the good kind that is..) as a “last name” so I figured I’d take a different approach on my A.K.A. and not be too generic.
B2G: What was your inspiration in joining the modding community?
JP: The community itself was my inspiration. Back then, it was not about owning the latest and greatest. It was about the art form. Nowadays, it’s more of a pissing contest between who has the better parts, the more sponsors, and the better tools. I’d like to bring a little of the good ol’ days back somehow.
B2G: What was your first project?
JP: I have built and rebuilt my “first” build so many times, it is hard to say which version was actually the first. i have been modding on my own for quite a while now, but only recently, about a few years ago, decided to take it public.
B2G: Do you have any particular routines in modding?
JP: Hours upon hours of staring at an empty case before I get started is the only routine that is constant for me. The rest that follow, are not necessarily in sequence. just depends on what idea pops out first.
B2G: What are your top 3 best mods and what was the idea behind each mod?
JP: I like to categorize my builds by how successful they were. not by the result that came out of it. my builds are pretty much all the same to me.
For Example:
Centurion 1, was not actually my best mod, but it was my most important. It opened alot of doors for me. It won one of the 3rd place seats in the CM modding completion a couple of years back.
Centurion 1 Specs:
- Intel i5 3570k @ 4.5ghz
- Asus Sabertooth Z77
- Asus DCU2 GTX 660 OC edition
- Kingston Hyper X Black @ 2x4gb
- Seasonic M12II 750
- Corsair H60
- Corsair Force GS 128gb SSD / WD 1tb HDD
- Corsair AF120mm Fans (x2)
- Corsair SP120 Fans (x2)
- Cooler Master Silencio 650 (modded)
- ICEMODZ Custom Sleeving
- ICEMODZ LED strip with remote
- Bitfenix Recon Fan Controller
Second was Project HERO. It was another important build for me because it was my first build that went to Computex. that build was by far, not my best either. this was the first ever Sabertooth Mark S. and I was chosen to be the one to introduce it
Third is, CENTURION 2 that build got shared and featured in so many websites, like the Asus Republic of Gamers website, TweakTown, ModdingFr, OC3D, Tom’s Hardware and plenty more. It got shared so many times, that when I google my name and go to images, most of everything i see is Centurion 2. So yeah, I like to classify my builds according to how much of a role they played introducing JPModified.
CENTURION 2 Specs:
- i7 4770k
- Asus SABRANCO Z97.. not Mark S. =)
- Asus GTX 780ti DCUII
- Corsair Dominator Platinum 16gb
- Cooler Master V850
- Cooler Master CM690 III
- Cooler Master Jetflo Fans
- Intel 730 240gb SSD
- WD 1tb HDD
- Bitspower Blocks
- Bitspower Radiator
- Bitspower Reservoir
- Bitspower Fittings
- Bitspower Crystal Link Tubing
- EK DCP 4.0 Pump
B2G: What difficulties and challenges did you encounter in modding and how did you surpassed them?
JP: Hard to say. But the biggest obstacle was wanting to see the result too quickly. Like slapping on a freshly painted and wet PSU cover on my build because I wanted to see how it looked inside, despite the fact the paint being still a bit wet, resulting in fingerprints embedded on the paint job and etc. in other words.. my biggest challenge was my impatience. But I’m glad I’m over that now.. for the most part. haha.
B2G: Can you tease us with your upcoming project?
JP: My entry to the Thermaltake Case Modding International
B2G: Do you have any modders to look up to?
JP: Too many. Sad to say, some of them are Inactive now and have shifted to different passions. but currently, the modders that never fail to drop my jaw are Mhike Samsin, and Modder Crow.
B2G: Do you have a message to aspiring modders and to the B2G community?
Just enjoy and keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t let other people dictate the result you want. unless of course, the people dictating are the ones paying you. =)
Thank you sir Jesse Palacio for a wonderful interview. Who do you want B2G to interview Next? Let us know in the comments. 🙂
