This reminds me so much of Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo. It has the similar premise of a coed dormitory filled with odd people. Only this time, Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou offers a more diverse group of tenants ranging from high school students to working adults to an elderly dorm manager.
Our main character, Usa, is your average not-quite-ready-to-live-alone-but-wants-to-anyway guy brought by circumstances to actually live alone. Okay, he might not be so average after all as he exhibits a slight degree of creepy, stalker-like behavior with regard to the apple of his eye senpai.
In any case, he finally moves in to his new house and gets to meet his weird housemates one by one.
First up, Shirosaki.
He’s a pervert. To be exact, a masochist. He also looks like a NEET. In fact, his being a pervert is widely accepted to the point that the girl’s section of the dorm has weapons placed all over the place.
Second, Ritsu.
She’s Usa’s senpai, specifically the one he has a crush on. She’s kind of an expressionless bookworm who always has her face buried in a book. So yeah, good luck to Usa.
Third, Mayumi.
She’s a bad drunk with terrible luck with men. Or just bad taste. She also has a massive rack.
There’s also another tenant who has yet to show up, and Sumiko, the elderly dorm manager who is a relative of Ritsu. She’s kind of your usual wise old grandma. In any case, a bunch of peculiar people living together. Usa fits right in.
And that’s pretty much where the show draw its comedy from. It’s light-hearted and fun, an enjoyable show that plays on the slightly absurd. It doesn’t go full absurd, so it still passes as a slice-of-life comedy.
I found the art to be pretty. I really liked how it uses sunlight to give scene more dimension. Also, the ED is kind of cute.
So in short, a good recommendation for a slice-of-life comedy that has a bit of romance. Highly recommended for fans of Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo.
Rating: 8/10
P.S.: How come magical moments like this never happened to me back in high school?
